The Scholarship

Honoring Lindsay

 

The Lindsay Graygo Empowerment Scholarship was created in 2008 to honor Lindsay’s legacy.

 

The scholarship will be given annually to a graduating female high school senior from McDowell High School in Erie, Pennsylvania.

 

Details pertaining to the Lindsay Graygo Empowerment Scholarship are listed below and are subject to change. For more information, please e-mail the scholarship or contact your school’s guidance counselor.

 

 

 

 

 

Amount: $1,000 - $2,000

Deadline: Annually by April 15

 

 

Eligibility:

• Applicant must be a female high school senior graduating from McDowell High School in Erie, PA

• Applicant must be accepted at any branch of Penn State University

• Minimum GPA 2.75

• Demonstrated leadership abilities

• Demonstrated all around citizenship in high school and/or community, especially in promoting positive and healthy lifestyles for women

 

Selection criteria:

• Written essay

• Academic transcript

• Extracurricular activities record

• Letter of recommendation from teacher or community member

 

Evaluation: A committee will evaluate applicants based on the following:

• Merit

• Extracurricular activities/community service

• Strong citizenship and character

• Ability to empower herself and other females

 

Scholarship requirements:

• Applicants awarded the Lindsay Graygo Empowerment Scholarship must agree to complete 50 hours (per academic year) of volunteer work that supports the positive and healthy lives of women.

 

Renewability:

• The Lindsay Graygo Empowerment Scholarship is renewable upon reapplication and completion of volunteer hours.
